20-Hour Asynchronous Online Course
The Lactation Education Refresher (LER) is designed for lactation professionals and healthcare providers who have already completed a 45-hour lactation training course and need continuing education hours.
Who Should Enroll?
- International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs)
- Certified Lactation Consultants (CLCs)
- Lactation Educators
- Other healthcare providers working in maternal-child health
CERP Credits
IBCLCs who successfully complete the course will earn:
- 5 E-CERPs
- 15 L-CERPs

Enrollment Requirements
Students must be accepted into the LER. The simple application process includes:
- Proof of completion of a 45-hour lactation training course
Recommendation: Enroll every three years to stay current with the latest research and best practices.

This enduring course does not expire. This course is approved for 20 hours by BRN and LEAARC. UC San Diego Division of Extended Studies is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development (CE hours) by the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN), provider number 0058 (no partial credit is awarded); and the Lactation Education Accreditation and Approval Review Committee (LEAARC). She is a mom to three boys who have all influenced her practice in different ways. She loves learning new things, advancing her education, and is currently pursuing her Doctor of Nursing Practice where she hopes to focus on improving perinatal outcomes for women with a history of trauma.
